Lithme: A Visual Diary of the Pulse of Being

Lithme (36"x36")
Standing before this canvas, a piece I came to call 'Lithme,' I remember the quiet hum that filled my studio. It wasn't silence, but a specific vibration, a pulse I was trying to capture. This wasn't about illustrating a scene; it was about transcribing the unseen currents that flow within me, the very rhythm of my being.
When I started, I gravitated towards the expansive whites and the soft, ethereal blues. I wasn't just mixing paint; I was breathing in a deep calm, allowing my thoughts to drift and settle like clouds on a clear day. My initial strokes of light blue felt like mapping out a vast, open space in my mind, a place for contemplation. Then came the darker, more assertive navy and black. As I laid down these bold, sweeping forms, I felt a surge of grounded energy. They were not obstacles, but anchors, giving weight and direction to the ethereal expanses, embodying those moments of stark reality or profound introspection that punctuate life's gentle flow.
The oranges and vibrant turquoises appeared as flashes of pure feeling. The fiery arcs of orange, for me, were sparks of warmth, a quickening heartbeat, a sudden joy or a persistent ember of passion. When I drew the sharp, almost electric turquoise lines, I thought of moments of sudden clarity, unexpected insights that cut through the softer ambiguities of existence. And those delicate, almost scribbled circles and lines – they were the hesitant whispers, the fragile connections, the quiet observations that often go unnoticed but are so vital to the tapestry of our inner lives. The large black circle with its tiny orange heart at the bottom of 'Lithme' became a focal point for me, a symbol of a deep, contained energy, holding a quiet warmth within its core. It felt like the grounding force, the unshakeable truth amidst the shifting patterns.
'Lithme' itself, for me, isn't just a word; it's the feeling of life's inherent cadence. It's the silent song my soul sings, the way one moment flows into the next, sometimes harmoniously, sometimes with a jolt. It encompasses the constant interplay of light and shadow, the loud and the soft, the intentional and the spontaneous. Creating 'Lithme' was a journey into recognizing my own internal rhythms, the pushes and pulls that define my perspective and propel my art. It was a conscious effort to translate that intangible essence onto the physical canvas, allowing each color and line to resonate with a part of my own unfolding story. This piece holds the echoes of my creative breath, a visual diary of feeling the pulse of being.
