Intention: Articulating Purpose, One Stroke at a Time

Intention (36"x36")
The golden murmurs that form the bedrock of this canvas – that’s where it all begins for me. As I laid down the shimmering, script-like strokes, I felt the weight of countless thoughts, experiences, the echoes of a past that shaped me. It’s a history rich and deep, yet largely illegible, like memories half-forgotten or truths that reside just beyond my conscious grasp. I poured that gold, feeling all those layers, those silent stories embedded within the very fabric of my being.
Then came the struggle, the wrestling with what truly needed to emerge. The stark, heavy black shapes rose as moments of uncertainty, of things obscured or difficult to confront. They are the shadows where ideas might hide, where conviction could waver. But even within them, a glimmer of the gold persisted, a constant reminder that even in darkness, value, my inherent history, remains.
And the red. Oh, the red! When I drew that sharp, vibrant line across the surface, it was like a sudden, undeniable burst of will, a decision made, a direction chosen with fierce resolve. It’s the jolt of passion, the urgent thrust of purpose that cuts through the noise. Those smaller red dots, they felt like vital anchors of commitment, marking crucial points within the larger landscape of existence. They are declarations, demanding to be seen.
The sweeping white arcs, so bold and clear, are my conscious choices, my intentions made manifest. They slice through the layered past, through the doubts, with a forceful elegance. As I applied that thick, resolute white stroke, I remember feeling a profound clarity, like proclaiming, "This. This is what I mean to do. This is my purpose." The splatters of white, too, are the energetic byproducts of these conscious acts – the overflow of an engaged spirit, a spontaneous release of focused energy.
The title, 'Intention,' isn't merely a label for me; it's the very essence of this work, a testament to my artistic journey and how I navigate life itself. It speaks to the deliberate act of choosing, of deciding to make a definitive mark, to bring something into being from the vast, formless potential that surrounds and resides within me. It’s about the conscious effort to articulate an inner world, to imbue each stroke and every color with meaning, even when that meaning is still in the fragile process of forming. 'Intention' is the silent vow I make with each brushstroke: a testament to the power of directed will, the courage to begin, and the unwavering belief in the path I choose to lay down, one stroke at a time. This canvas is my meditation on that very act of living with 'Intention,' constantly seeking to align my actions with a deeper, truer purpose, even when the path is obscured by the echoes of the past or the shadows of doubt.
