Lehm II: The Earth's Quiet Strength Reimagined

Abstract Painting – Original Wall Art – Acrylic & Oil Paint on Wood – Modern Textured Geometric Painting – "Lehm II" – 8"x8" (20x20cm)

I began *Lehm II* with a yearning for something fundamental, something connected to the very earth beneath our feet. "Lehm," meaning clay or loam, speaks to me of the raw material, the essence of creation, the humble beginning from which everything emerges. And the "II" simply means this is a deeper dive, a second breath into that exploration, an evolution of a quiet, persistent theme in my heart.

When I first laid down that vibrant lime green, I felt a rush of unbridled life, like the first shoots of spring pushing through the soil after a long winter. The way the brushstrokes dragged, leaving their textured trace, it wasn't about perfection; it was about the tangible presence of the paint, the raw, almost electric energy pulsing through the canvas. I wanted it to feel alive, untamed.

Then came the bold yellow stripe, a column of pure light, a sudden burst of warmth. As my brush moved, I imagined the sun breaking through, cutting through any lingering shadows, a promise of clarity and joy. It’s a beacon, unwavering and bright.

The deep navy blue, those slender lines, and the corner triangle—they brought a necessary gravity to the composition. I felt them grounding the exuberance, like the deep roots of a tree holding fast, or the quiet mystery of a twilight sky. And the curved black form, it felt like a pause, a gentle, weighty arc in the dance of sharper angles, adding a touch of serene depth.

As I blended in that softer teal, that cool, minty green curve at the bottom, I felt a sense of peace settling over the canvas. It’s the tranquility of still water, a moment of gentle reflection amidst the more assertive bursts of color. It felt like finding a soft place to land, a moment of calm in the vibrant energy.

The white spaces, to me, are never voids. They are breath, silence, the pure, unwritten story that allows every color and every shape to sing its own note without being drowned out. They provide the structure, the air that lets the forms exist and interact without chaos.

*Lehm II* became for me a journey into the essential. It’s about the beauty found in basic elements, the powerful interplay of light and shadow, growth and stillness, all emerging from that fundamental, humble 'clay' of existence. It’s a contemplation of how disparate parts can come together to form a balanced, resonant whole, finding harmony in the simplicity of shape and the vibration of color. This piece truly is a testament to the raw, unadulterated spirit I chase in my work—the quiet strength of the earth, reimagined through my hands.
