puervenit I: The Arrival of Profound Realization

puervenit I (40"x40")

The blank canvas always holds a silent promise, a vast, expectant space. When I began "puervenit I," I wasn't seeking to perfectly render an image but to distill a feeling, a moment of profound realization. Each stroke was a step into that uncharted territory, a dialogue between my inner world and the evolving surface before me.

I remember laying down those initial dark washes—deep browns and rich blacks—feeling the weight of introspection, the quiet hum of thoughts that often swirl beneath the surface of daily life. It was a space for shadows to gather, for the unknown to take form. Then, the almost defiant burst of mustard yellow. When I spread that vibrant pigment across the canvas, I wasn't just adding color; I was igniting a spark, a sudden flash of courage or clarity cutting through the somber depths. It felt like a decision, a pivotal turn in an internal narrative.

The swift, almost frantic white scribbles and lines that dance across the upper right, they were my search, my reaching out. I was grappling with ideas, sifting through layers of thought, trying to articulate the ineffable. And those delicate splatters, like scattered whispers or drops of rain, they came from a place of letting go, of allowing chance and intuition to guide the hand.

As I wove in the cool, serene blues and teals, particularly the broader stroke towards the left and the subtle hint within the dark circle, I found moments of breath, a quiet calm amidst the brewing storm of emotions. They were pauses, much needed pockets of clarity that emerged from the chaos I was embracing. The thick, dark circles, especially the prominent one on the right, were not just shapes; they were echoes of cycles, perhaps a focal point for something I was trying to contain or understand, a thought circling back on itself.

The fragments of text I embedded, almost hidden within the layers, are like whispers from my own mind, personal notations that anchor the abstract to a very specific, intimate experience. They are not meant to be overtly read but felt, a testament to the internal monologues that accompany every creation.

The title, "puervenit I," holds a deep resonance for me. It is my interpretation of "it arrives" or "it has come into being." This piece, more than any other, felt like an arrival. Not just the physical completion of the artwork, but the culmination of a journey, an understanding that had been building within me. It signifies that moment when a truth, a feeling, or a state of being finally manifests, fully formed and undeniably present. "puervenit I" is the tangible record of that arrival, the very first step into articulating this profound sense of realization through paint and texture. It is a testament to the idea that even from the most intricate and complex internal landscapes, something clear, something potent, always eventually arrives.
