Subcon-Blau II: A Compass Pointing Inward

Abstract Painting – Original Wall Art – Acrylic Oil & Mixed Media on Canvas – Blue Yellow Painting – "Subcon-Blau II" – 20"x20" (50x50cm)

When I stand before a canvas, it's never truly blank. It's a space waiting to echo the silent currents beneath the surface of my waking mind. With *Subcon-Blau II*, I felt drawn into an ocean of thought, a vast expanse where emotions ebb and flow without a shore.

The initial washes of deep blue were like taking a breath, diving headfirst into that subconscious world. I layered one shade after another, feeling the cool tranquility, then the profound, almost overwhelming depth. Each stroke was an attempt to capture the fleeting moments, the half-formed ideas that reside just beyond words. When I laid down the lighter, more vibrant turquoise, it was like sunlight breaking through the water, revealing glimmers of clarity amidst the profound mystery.

Then came the audacious oranges and yellows, splashed and dripped. These weren't planned; they were impulses, sudden sparks of intuition or bursts of joy breaking through the meditative blues. As I pushed the vibrant orange pigment across the canvas, I thought of fleeting moments of insight, like warm sunshine on cold skin. The splatters were pure release, a joyful acknowledgment of chaos and serendipity.

The thick, black forms that emerge in *Subcon-Blau II* felt like grappling with something tangible from the dream world. I sculpted them, letting the paint pile up, giving weight and shadow to elusive feelings. It was a confrontation, a deep breath held and then exhaled, leaving behind a stark, undeniable presence. And those delicate, almost musical black squiggles – they were like whispers, faint notes from a forgotten melody playing in the mind's theatre.

There’s a fragment of text, torn and embedded. It’s a piece of the outside world, yet it felt entirely at home within this inner landscape. It speaks to the way external fragments, snippets of conversations, or forgotten headlines, settle into our minds and become part of our own internal narrative, distorted and reinterpreted by our subconscious. I placed it there not to be read, but to be felt, as a texture of memory.

The title, *Subcon-Blau II*, is more than just a name for me; it's a compass pointing inward. "Subcon" for the subconscious, that vast, untamed wilderness of dreams, instincts, and hidden truths. "Blau," the German word for blue, signifies not just the dominant color, but the profound, boundless, often melancholic, yet utterly liberating space of the mind. The "II" marks this journey as a return, a deeper, more intentional exploration of these same depths after a previous voyage. It’s a testament to the ongoing dialogue I have with my inner world, a continuous dive into the blue unknown.

Creating this piece was a conversation with myself, a way to map the contours of my own spirit. Each line, each patch of color, each drip and splatter in *Subcon-Blau II* is a record of that conversation, a moment caught in the endless flow of introspection and expression.
