Verba Colores: A Symphony of Words and Colors

Geometric Collage Painting – Original Abstract Canvas Wall Art – Verba Colores (30"x30")

There are moments when the world feels like a symphony of whispers and flashes, an endless stream of words and colors washing over me. It is in these moments that I find myself compelled to create, to capture that fleeting sensation and give it a tangible form. This feeling, this drive, is what led me to paint "Verba Colores."

When I began assembling this piece, I wasn't thinking of a grand statement, but rather a quiet conversation. I gathered fragments – scraps of paper, snippets of text, swatches of color – each one a small memory, a passing thought, an echo of something heard or felt. I didn't plan every placement; instead, I let instinct guide my hand, much like memories surface unexpectedly. As I cut and tore, layering one piece over another, I wasn't just constructing an image; I was weaving a tapestry of my own perception.

The words you see scattered throughout – "Kunst," "Mensch," "Strom," "Leipzig," "Kosmos," "Technik" – they aren't meant to be read as a coherent sentence. They are like individual notes in a melody, each carrying its own weight and history. When I placed "Kunst" (art) next to that vibrant pink, I thought of the raw, almost aggressive energy of creation. And when "Mensch" (human) found its place amidst the diverse textures, I felt the complexity and multifaceted nature of our existence. These words, in their various languages, are reminders of how thoughts and concepts flow across boundaries, constantly shaping and reshaping our inner worlds.

And the colors! They are the very breath of this work. The deep blues and greens, for me, spoke of the quiet depths of introspection, of forgotten dreams and distant landscapes. The blazing reds and oranges ignited a sense of urgency, of passion and defiance, like a sudden burst of insight. I remember carefully selecting the corrugated cardboard strip, placing it near the top right; it wasn't just about texture, but about the mundane beauty found in everyday objects, how even the simplest material can contribute to a larger narrative. The circles and semi-circles that emerge from the straight lines felt like anchors, like moments of calm or revelation amidst the visual chatter. They are the points where thoughts might coalesce, or emotions find a temporary balance.

The title itself, "Verba Colores," meaning "Words Colors," is the essence of my artistic philosophy and, perhaps, a reflection of my life. I've always been fascinated by the intrinsic connection between language and visual experience. For me, words aren't just symbols; they possess their own color, their own weight, their own emotional resonance. Conversely, colors tell stories, evoke feelings, and speak volumes without a single uttered sound. In this work, I sought to explore that profound interplay – how a vivid hue can imbue a word with new meaning, or how a simple phrase can alter the way we perceive a splash of paint. It's about the endless dance between the concrete and the abstract, the logical and the intuitive.

This piece is a diary entry made visual, a meditation on how we process the overwhelming symphony of our world. It’s a testament to the joy and struggle of finding meaning in the disparate fragments of experience, and presenting them as a harmonious, if complex, whole. It’s my way of saying that sometimes, the truest stories are told not in linear narratives, but in the vibrant, chaotic, beautiful collision of words and colors.
