Viento: A Resonating Warmth, An Invisible Dance

Viento (40"x40")

The canvas glows with a warmth that still resonates within me. When I first laid down that vibrant reddish-orange, I wasn't just mixing pigments; I was pouring out the raw, untamed energy of a memory, a feeling. It's the hue of a burning sunset on a vast, open plain, or the intense flush of an emotion that grips you completely. I wanted to create a space that felt alive, vibrating with an inherent force, even before any forms emerged.

Then came the darkness, the bold black strokes. As I dragged the brush, creating those strong, almost architectural vertical shapes on the left, I thought of anchored truths, monumental presences. Yet, even as they stood firm, I felt them begin to fray, to dissolve at their base into delicate, winding threads. These thin black lines, snaking and swirling across the surface, were my attempt to visualize the invisible hand of motion, the subtle currents that tug and pull at everything. They are the echoes of a journey, the paths traced by something unseen, yet profoundly impactful.

The very title, "Viento," means wind to me, and it is a word that holds a profound place in my artistic soul. It's not just about the physical phenomenon of air moving; it’s about the unseen forces that shape our lives, that carry us forward, sometimes gently, sometimes with a powerful surge. When I was painting those sweeping white arcs, cutting through the red and black, I was thinking of the wind's primary current—unmistakable, undeniable, charting its own course, leaving its bright trail against the chaos and calm. It’s the clarity that emerges from complexity, the singular path that calls to you.

The small white speckles, scattered like stardust across the red field, are the dust motes caught in a sunbeam, or the silent particles that ride the unseen currents. They are the subtle details that make up the vastness, the quiet whisper within the grand symphony of movement. And that lone, vivid green dot in the lower right corner? That was a moment of absolute joy and quiet determination for me. It's a seed carried by the "Viento," finally finding its fertile ground, a tiny spark of life asserting itself amidst the grand sweep of forces. It's a promise, a beacon, a small triumph of resilience.

Creating this piece was a dialogue between the structured and the free-flowing, the visible and the imagined. With every stroke, whether bold and defining or delicate and ephemeral, I was meditating on the essence of being shaped, of moving through life. "Viento" isn't just a painting; it's a reflection of how I see the world—a beautiful, dynamic interplay of forces, constantly pushing, pulling, and guiding us, leaving behind traces of its magnificent, invisible dance.
