The Fourth Dream: A Pivotal Moment of Heightened Clarity

The fourth dream (40"x40")

There are moments when the brush feels less like a tool and more like an extension of my very breath, tracing not what I see, but what I feel deep within. Creating *The fourth dream* was one such journey, an excavation of the mind's hidden corners, a conversation with the self that occurs when the world outside falls silent.

When I started on this piece, I felt drawn to the expansive, almost infinite stretch of cream on the upper canvas. It was the vast, silent stage of consciousness, where everything begins. I imagined it as the soft light of dawn filtering into a dream, or perhaps the blank slate upon which the night's narratives are written. As I laid down that powerful, grounding stroke of **orange** at the bottom, I felt a surge of warmth, a connection to the earth, to waking reality. It was a demarcation, a vibrant frontier between the tangible and the ethereal, a space from which the subconscious might emerge, or to which it might recede.

The large, bold **black** forms, and the deep, introspective **indigo** shapes, they weren't planned. They simply arrived, almost demanded their presence. As I painted them, I felt the weight of unspoken thoughts, the profound, sometimes unsettling presences that lurk in the deeper strata of the mind. They are the anchors of *The fourth dream*, unyielding yet fluid, like the shifting architecture of our deepest selves. I let them sit, heavy and quiet, understanding that some truths don't need sharp edges to be felt profoundly.

Then came the delicate dance of lines. The thin, almost whispered **grey and black contours** seemed to float across the surface, like forgotten melodies or the fleeting tendrils of thought that dissolve just as you try to grasp them. They were the movement of the mind, the ceaseless flow of ideas and feelings that never quite coalesce but leave their beautiful, transient trails. And those playful bursts of **pink**—a bold, curving stroke here, a gentle dot there—they were moments of pure, unadulterated joy, a tender vulnerability bubbling up, a splash of optimism in the midst of the profound. They were the giggles in a dream, the unexpected tenderness.

The fragmented pieces of **newspaper collage**—I tore them and placed them almost instinctively. They represent the whispers of the waking world, the echoes of daily life that find their way into our deepest slumber, twisting and merging with the fantastical. They are the familiar, made unfamiliar by the context of the dream, a subtle reminder of the bridge between our two realities.

*The fourth dream* isn't just a title; it’s a milestone in my ongoing exploration. It represents not merely the number of a dream but a deeper plunge into the wellspring of creativity and self-understanding. Each "dream" I translate onto canvas is a chapter in an evolving narrative of my inner world. This particular dream, the fourth in this unfolding series, felt like a pivotal moment, a point of heightened clarity amidst the chaos. It’s where the veil between what I consciously experience and what my soul truly feels became thinnest, allowing for a more honest, unmediated expression. It is my attempt to find a coherent story, a palpable emotion, in the wonderfully fragmented logic of the subconscious. This piece holds a quiet intensity, a reflection of the profound whispers that emerge when the conscious mind finally steps aside. It is, for me, a testament to the enduring mystery and beauty of our inner lives.
